You sneeze a few times out of nowhere. Maybe you think nothing of it. Maybe, like me, you hope its nothing more than allergies. But for some people, allergies can be so severe that even that "hope" doesn't bring much comfort. What do you do to protect yourself when allergy season hits? Whether its dust, mold, or seasonal allergies, those who suffer through these ailments will tell you just how uncomfortable, and often, immobilizing allergies can be for day to day activities.
For adults, relief can be sought from over the counter (OTC) products such as Claritin, Zyrtec, or even Benadryl. These can come with side effects, from drowsiness to being kept awake. Flonase, a nasal spray allergy medication, has recently been approved by the FDA for OTC use. This recently was only found as a prescription medication and offers relief for nasal allergies and itchy eyes without making you drowsy.
There are other alternatives, though.
If your allergies are more mild or you're trying to steer more towards the homeopathic remedies, nasal rinses may be your answer. Products like NeilMed Sinus Rinse combine filtered water with premixed packages of Sodium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate in a soft rinse bottle. With the cap inserted into one nostril and some gentle squeezing, the rinse will flow through out the other nostril to gently cleanse your passageways. This is repeated on the other side. The solution is pH balanced, isotonic and preservative free.
